Welcome to The Linear Spiral!
Welcome to the Linear Spiral! On this channel we discuss the search for meaning and purpose in this chaotic world we live in. We discuss the outward journey through life and the inner journey to the soul, the spirit - consciousness - or what I call "the spirit-consciousness." We talk about religion and gods and the great mysteries that neither science nor any religion have yet to solve. We discuss the postulations put forth by humankind in an effort to solve those mysteries. We discuss the Philosophy of Not and authorization for being (the ideology of Authorism) and we also get into other methods of seeking such as the occult, divination and the tarot. We will also dive into Alchemy 2.0 which is alchemy reinvented for the 21st century. Join us as we sort through a myriad of splinters of truth while seeking a path that can bring reason to the chaos.

My Spiritual Awakening
When I was fourteen years old I experienced what I came to regard as my spiritual awakening. I was walking home from school in a suburban neighborhood on a sunny afternoon in spring. Up until the moment of my awakening there was nothing particularly unusual about this day that could make it stand out from any other day. As I walked my wandering gaze fell upon one of the houses I was walking by. I stopped in my tracks and stared because I was suddenly stunned by what I saw. It is difficult to describe because with the visual explanation there was also a feeling that words can only meekly convey.
Visually, the house seemed to be emanating waves of energy. Much like a pebble in a pool, with the house being the pebble and the air around it being the pool, wave after wave of “house energy” rippled out in every direction. The house itself, even though it seemed to be the progenitor of the “house energy waves,” looked like what I can only describe as the most fragile of illusions. I looked at the small bright green shrub next to the house and it too was emanating “shrub energy” in outward ripples that mixed with the house ripples creating interference patterns in the air. The car in the driveway was rippling “car energy” waves. Everything I beheld was sending out these ripples of energy and these ripples were all merging with each other into the air and sky. Each item, in turn, also had a characteristic of seeming to be illusory. Returning my attention to the house, the illusion - which was the house itself - seemed so fragile that it seemed it could just blink out of existence at any moment and I felt that if it did the house would suddenly be gone. At that moment, faster than the speed of thought, for the briefest picosecond, I had the impression that it did blink out and that I saw behind the veil of illusion. It was the most remarkable moment in my life. I was awestruck. But the glimpse I had was so brief that in the very instant that I saw it, I lost it. It was the beginning of the thought and feeling of “This is the truth!” but only the beginning. It was a remarkable gift and a terrible curse. I felt I had seen a glimpse of the underpinnings of all of existence but not enough of a glimpse to be able to even ask about what it was that I had seen. The whole experience lasted around 60 to 90 seconds and then everything looked more or less just as it had before. I was dumbstruck as I looked around wishing that I could somehow recreate the experience. But I could not. I have never experienced anything like it since. In journaling throughout the years, I have referred to this moment as my spiritual birth. I continued to walk home but was left with a resounding question ringing through my entire being that can probably best be summed by, “What is the meaning of life?!” Other questions quickly sprang forth: What is the point of human existence? What is this illusion all around us? Is there purpose here? If so, what is the purpose? What is behind it? What is the big picture? Where did this all come from? How did this come to be? What are we supposed to be doing? And so on and so on. In an attempt to answer some or any of these questions, I started seeking the answers diligently. I was more or less obsessed with finding an answer. I asked anyone and everyone that was willing to talk about it and I sought the answers through religion, philosophy, the esoteric, metaphysics, under rocks, behind trees, in the sky, in static on the television, through online bulletin boards (this was before the world wide web), in the thoughtful eyes of dogs and cats and even the seemingly knowing stare of little babies. I sought meaning from everything I beheld. Nobody seemed to be able to explain any of it to me. Most people did not want to talk about it at all and some of the religious who were willing to talk quickly became uncomfortable with my probing questions and would say something to the effect, “You should talk to my preacher.” This ceaseless seeking of answers is what ultimately led to the Philosophy of Not and the creation of this YouTube channel, The Linear Spiral. |

What is the Linear Spiral? It is all of existence!
In the book of daily meditations on the Philosophy of Not, there is an entry titled, The Linear Spiral. In that entry, we describe the entire span of existence from cells, molecules, atoms, sub-atomic particles, quanta, superstrings and beyond to the vastness of outer space where we have solar systems, galaxies, galactic clusters, super clusters, the known universe, multiverses and multiple dimensions.
It is possible that as we zoom deeper and deeper into the micro, we discover that there is no bottom. We find there is no elementary particle that everything else is made of. Instead, there is always something smaller. Forever. And as we scale into the macro, we discuss the possibility that there is no single container inside which everything resides. The known universe may be one of many universes and may exist within a multiverse. The multiverse may be one of many multiverses and when we add higher and higher dimensions to the mix, we can see that the macro may be infinite in scope just as the micro is infinitely small. While there appears to be a circular nature to the discussion of "this is the smallest. Now this is the smallest. Now this is the smallest." we find that it is not circular, but rather like a spiral. There is a circular aspect, but it is moving forward. We are progressing. The linear nature of this spiral is the tracking from the most micro to the most macro in a straight line. However, it may be that it is not a *linear* spiral but rather a circle in that when we finally zoom in deep enough we find ourselves looking at an array of multiverses, or vice versa, that when we pan out far enough, we find ourselves looking at the tiny little things which comprise the building blocks of superstrings. (Would it surprise you to discover that it is a circle?) At any rate, humanity seems to have awoken in this miraculous wonder that is life and existence, and in order to capture it all in a single phrase, we simply call it "the linear spiral." |

Proof of the Fourth Dimension: Adding additional dimensions to the Linear Spiral makes existence infinitely larger!
In this video I demonstrate proof that there is a fourth dimension and postulate there must be more than just four dimensions. In the late 1800's Edwin Abbot wrote a book called "Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions," in which he describes a society of people (shapes, actually) who live in the second dimension. They have no concept of the third dimension.
The book sets the stage for us to consider that those of us in the third dimension may have no concept of those people living in the fourth dimension. The idea for tracing the shadow of an object from our dimension into a lower dimension and that we might be able to see a shadow of something from a higher dimension here in the third dimension came from a Carl Sagan video I saw last year on YouTube. The spiritual implications of this are endless and astounding and I do not dive into any of them. The idea that we can witness the shadow of a four dimensional object here in the third dimension (I have one on my desk in this video) even though we can never experience the fourth dimension, was enough to make my mind reel. I hope you enjoy the video! |

Pick-Up Sticks
Listening to people argue over things like politics, smartphone manufacturers, sports or even religion at times makes me think of “the pick-up sticks analogy.”
Imagine a game of pick-up sticks has just begun. The sticks have fallen and are arrayed all over each other in a well-mixed, multicolor pile. Somewhere underneath the pick-up sticks are some tiny little people. They do not know what the pick-up sticks are but they think these giant colored sticks crisscrossing above them as far as the eye can see must be very important. They have no concept of the people who put the pick-up sticks there or why the pick-up sticks are there. One of these tiny persons points to an orange one about three sticks up and says, “That orange one is the most important thing there is. It is obviously the key to all of existence. We should focus on the orange one. We should worship the orange one.” Another person, points to the closest one and say, “No, of course this red one is most important. It is the closest to us.” Another person points higher and says, “No, the green one is above the others. It must be the most important one of all.” The people form factions and create divisions among themselves based on the pick-up sticks, never knowing anything about what they really are or why they are really there. This is what I see when I see divisions among us. What is important is life, Life, fitness, relationships, your personal code and our community of living beings. The pick-up sticks just do not matter. Today, stop looking at the pick-up sticks and focus on one of the things that actually matters in the world. |

My Adventures with SatanI was raised Christian and believed in the normal Santa Claus-like God that most people think of when they talk about God. As such, I also believed in the evil one, Satan! After being warned by my father not to invoke the name of Satan lest he come before me and take my soul to hell for all eternity, I was so desperate for validation of the supernatural world that I did it. One day, on the driveway in front of the house, I called to Satan to come before me. This is my story of what happened that day and the adventures that followed that fateful afternoon.

Does God Exist? The Truth about God
"Does God exist?" This is perhaps the most important question one can ask when embarking on a journey to the center of the self. The answer to this question can seriously alter one's life.
It may not surprise you, then, that the answer is complicated. In short, the answer is "yes," gods exist for those who believe in them. However, there are no supernatural entities who created this planet as described in countless creation mythologies. The gods of old were not actual entities floating in space with a vested interest in humans. Nor were the gods that replaced them. Today, there are no giant supernatural entities floating around in space vying for our 'likes' and hoping we subscribe. But just because there is not a giant Santa Claus-looking man or elephant headed being staring down on us from heaven does not mean that gods to not exist. Gods are very real to the people who believe in gods. If there are roughly five billion people on this planet who believe in gods, what this amounts to is that there are about five billion gods. There is one god for each person that believes in a god. There are many gods to the believer that believes in many gods. We will dive into how this is possible in future videos. In this video, we only introduce this confusing answer: Yes, gods exist. No, they are not real. This is evidenced by the fact that god(s) never appear before people. You will never see a god when you are with someone (unless that god appears only to you). God(s) never appear before more than one person at a time because as a being that does not actually exist, no god can appear before more than one person at a time. Gods can only appear to us in our minds and because this is only in our minds, the god will look and sound different to each person and the god will say something different to each person. But just because gods are not real and cannot appear before more than one person at a time, does not mean they are not real to the people who believe in them. Each individual may hear the sound of their god and follow that god's directions (or guidance, etc.). If many people believe in the same god but cannot agree on the message that god is trying to convey (because each person hears their own version of the message (because that god only exists in the mind of the person hearing it)), they can seek a holy person in that god's religion and the holy person can make the final statement. The atheist is half right in their assertion that there is no god. The half that is right is that there are no beings which are gods. The half that is wrong is the statement "there is no god." There is obviously god to those who believe in gods. This is why intelligent, rational humans can be devout followers of one god or another. Believers are not deluded. Their god is very real to them. In fact, most devout believers cannot fathom how anyone else could not believe in god. God is very real to the person who believes in god. One more note on this confusion is the following fact (which is why the atheist makes such brash assertions): The believer's god cannot harm the atheist. In the mind of the atheist there is no god, therefore no god can harm an atheist. Just as the atheists void of gods cannot harm the believer. In the mind of the believer, the atheist is just wrong. But the bottom line is that both the atheist and the believer are absolutely right. The good news is that if you do not particularly like your god (some are angry, jealous, wrathful, childish beings), you can change your god into something more noble, loving, forgiving and understanding. In fact, most believers in god have already done this. Most believers will exclude the negative parts of god that their religion teaches so that their gods are not such horrible beings filled with anger and hate but instead are beings filled with forgiveness and love. |

Aliens, Shadow People and Demons from Hell
In this video I tell three stories from my life. The first story describes my encounter with an alien ship in the desert of western Utah. The second story describes my encounter with a Shadow Person in the Pasayten Wilderness. In the third story, I describe my encounter with a demon from hell in the woods in north central Washington State.
In each story, my brain "helped" me come to terms with a perplexing situation. And in each instance, my brain provided me with an erroneous solution to the perplexing problem. I was "satisfied" in having an answer but knew the answer was wrong. It would seem that we, as people, would often rather have a wrong answer than no answer at all. One should always maintain a shadow of doubt. Healthy skepticism is an important thing to keep in your arsenal. |

Which Religion is True?
In this video I address the question, "Which religion is true?" and I turn what is necessarily a complicated answer into a simple answer. There are literally over a thousand different religions to choose from. Perhaps many thousands. It is likely that we (as humanity) don't even have an accurate count of how many religions there are to choose from. How then, can we know, of all of these various religions to choose from, which one is true? We know for certain that cannot all be true. So which one *is* true?! The answer lies in the power of manifestation. This is essentially the law of attraction and manifestation of reality through thought. Prayer, religion, magic, god, the law of attraction and manifestation are all words for the exact same thing. We make real what believe is real. We make true what we believe is true. Likewise, the inverse of that: we make false what we believe is false. Even though the answer is complicated, the bottom line is pretty simple. In short, "The religion you practice is the true religion." If you believe in God, then God may exist for you. If you believe Religion A is true, then Religion A may be true for you. I hope you enjoy this video! In this video I reference a previous video here on The Linear Spiral: Does God Exist

The Gradient Yin-Yang: The Problem of Good and EvilThe Yin-Yang as a symbol of the balance between forces is an excellent symbol. When used to compare good and evil however, we need a fuzzier symbol. We need to gray out the black and white until there are only gradients of gray. The idea of good and evil may have originally come from day and night. For our ancestors, night was terrifying and dangerous but day was beautiful and much safer to move around in. As consciousness developed in humans, the intent that drives good and evil became stronger. We now have good and evil in the world and it's not going anywhere, but there is a [misnomer?] here. Good and evil are not two distinct forces that can exist separate from one another. [Good and evil] is one force and both good and evil must exist for either of the others to exist. There is not a struggle between good and evil. There is only the result of the intention. There is no black path through life and there is no white path through life. There is only the gray path.
